On the back, an engraving shows that it was a gift to Geoffrey Shakespeare, on the occasion of his winning the parliamentary seat of Wellingborough for the Liberal Party, at the election of November 15th, No doubt he appreciated the gesture, because he kept the watch. I don’t know when the watch got damaged, but I doubt my grandfather ever used it.
