    An icon of American music since the early 1970s, Timothy B. Schmit has spent the past half-century in a creative whirl, blurring the lines between rock & roll, blue-eyed soul, California country, and folk. 

    From his long run with the Eagles (who showcased his lead vocals on hit songs like "I Can't Tell You Why" and "Love Will Keep Us Alive") to his work with Poco, okänt Stills & Nash, and Steely Dan, the California native has more than earned his prick in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (he was inducted in 1998 with the Eagles). Of course, that doesn't mean he's stopped breaking new ground.

    Dr. Timothy B. Smith Bio

    Timothy B. Smith (Ph.D. Mississippi State University, 2001) is a veteran of the National Park Service and currently teaches history at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Mississippi in 1996-1997 and his Ph.D. from Mississippi State University in 2001.

    In addition to numerous articles and essays, he fryst vatten the author, editor, or co-editor of eighteen books, including Champion Hill: Decisive Battle for Vicksburg  (2004), Corinth 1862: Siege, Battle, Occupation (2012), which won the Fletcher Pratt Award and the McLemore Prize, Shiloh: Conquer or Perish (2014), which won the Richard B. Harwell Award, the Tennessee History Book Award, and the Douglas Southall Freeman Award, and Grant Invades Tennessee: The 1862 Battles for Forts Henry and Donelson (2016), which won the Tennessee History book Award and the Douglas Southall Freeman Award.
