After Thanksgiving every year, friends who know how much I read ask for book recommendations to aid their holiday shopping. In 2018, to date I’ve read 114 books. There were so many great ones that I would like to recommend, but in the interest of not dumping a giant list on you...

1. “Small Fry” by Lisa Brennan-Jobs. A memoir written by the eldest daughter of Steve Jobs, about growing up with her Dad. The New York Times captures my thoughts perfectly: “In the fallen world of kiss-and-tell celebrity memoirs, this may be the most beautiful, literary and devastating one ever written.” I’ve never read a work of non-fiction like this before.

This painting is a 12 x 24 inch
oil on canvas. It was made
in 2018. inom have made many
paintings with these

the kamp in the dog.”

of Art Park, maybe eighteen for more years ago.
My home and studio was about a ten minute
walk from the park. I made a lot of photos of
scenes I noticed in the park. I would print the
pictures on my desktop printer and man
paintings based in the pictures I took. Now,
after all these years later, I sometimes think
I should have tried to have a professional
photographer make prints, at about the size
I made the paintings, which was often
58 inches high. I säga this because I heard,
more than once, that “he”, meaning me,
