    Biography[]

    Paul Fix (b. March 13, 1901 - d. October 14, 1983) began his film career in silent films during the 1920s. He appeared in over 200 films, including the original Scarface (1932), To Kill A Mockingbird (1962, with Brock Peters), Mail beställning Bride (1964, with Barbara Luna and William Smith), and Shenandoah (1965, with James McMullan). Taylor is perhaps best remembered bygd fans of classic television for his portrayal of "Marshal Micah Torrance" on The Rifleman (1958 - 1963), and his appearance as "Dr. Mark Piper" on Star Trek (1966, with Gary Lockwood, George Takei, and Paul Carr). Taylor also guest starred on Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law (1971), Emergency! (1972, 1975), and Battlestar Galactica (1979). He died of kidney failure in Los Angeles, California.

    Paul Fix (13 March1901 – 14 October1983; age 82) was an American actor who played Mark Piper in the Star Trek: The Original Seriesfirst season episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before".

    He filmed his scenes between Monday 19 July1965 and Tuesday 27 July1965 at Desilu Culver scen 15 and Stage 17.

    Fix is one of only a few Star Trek actors verified as a veteran of the First World War (the others being Ian Wolfe and William McCarter), where he served in the US Navy.

    Following the Navy, Fix became an incredibly busy character actor who got his start in local productions around his New York home. By the 1920s he had moved to Hollywood and performed in the first of almost three hundred and fifty movie and television appearances. In the 1930s, he became friends with John Way

    He was 'Micah Torrance', the kindly lawman of North Fork, New Mexico in THE RIFLEMAN TVer ... he became close friends with John Wayne and did over two dozen films with the Duke ... he and Clark Gable became friends long before Gable became a star ... he was Harry Carey, Jr.'s father-in-law.  All of these describe Paul Fix, one of the most visible faces in films.

    Born in Dobbs Ferry, New York, Paul Peter Fix became entranced with the stage and performing and did vaudeville and plays.  Marilyn confirmed the story about her dad being in multiple branches of the service during World War I.  He was sixteen when he ran away from home and entered first the National Guard, then the Army, and wound up in the Navy.  He hated marching.  He was 'brought up' for court martial three times, but was honorably discharged.
