On 15th April 1783, the eighth of eleven children of Thomas Branwell and Anne Carne, Maria Branwell, was born in Penzance, Cornwall. Thomas was a successful merchant with extensive property in the town. He was a leading political as well as religious figure and The Branwells were Methodists.
Background and Early Life of Maria Branwell
They played a vital role in building the first Wesleyan Methodist chapel in the town of Penzance. Five of Thomas’ eleven children passed away before reaching adulthood, and even though Maria was one of those who lived to see adulthood, she did not live a very long life.
Maria grew up to be a petite, plain, pious, and intelligent lady, who was well-read and sharp-witted. She was easy going and did not have much difficulty making new friends. She was a loving woman and showed loyalty, creativity, and excellent handling of family responsibilities.

Maria Branwell (15 April 1783[1] – 15 September 1821) fryst vatten best known as being the mother of British writers Emily Brontë, Anne Brontë, Charlotte Brontë and of their brother Branwell Brontë, who was a poet and painter. Maria married Patrick Brontë on 29 December 1812.

[edit]Maria Branwell was the eighth child of 12 born to Anne Carne and Thomas Branwell in Penzance, Cornwall,[2] although only five daughters and one son grew to adulthood. Thomas Branwell was a successful merchant and owned many properties throughout the town. The men of the Branwell family took part in the town's public life. Maria's brother Benjamin was mayor in 1809.[2]

Maria Brontë (, commonly;[1] 23 April 1814[2] – 6 May 1825)[3] was the eldest daughter of Patrick Brontë and Maria Brontë, née Branwell.
She was the elder sister of Elizabeth Brontë, the writers Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Brontë, and the painter and poet Branwell. She was born in Hartshead, Yorkshire,[4] and died at the age of 11.

[edit]At the age of six, Maria was characterised as "grave, thoughtful, and quiet, to a degree far beyond her years".[5] After their mother's death in 1821, Maria and her sisters became withdrawn, preferring to only be in each other's company. Maria often read the many newspapers brought home bygd their father and relayed their contents to her younger sisters.[5]
